Zeffirelli directed this brilliant comedy by Lina Wertmüller while collaborating with her on the development of a screenplay for a film inspired by the figure of Saint Francis (eventually produced in 1972 under the title "Brother Sun, Sister Moon"). The comedy is a satire of the widespread protests expressed by the anti-establishment youth movements that emerged around 1968. The cast included Giancarlo Giannini, in one of his rare stage appearances, and Andreina Pagnani. The set and costume design were entrusted to Enrico Job.
