For the English staging of "Così è (se vi pare)" known to the English speaking audience as "Right You Are (If You Think So)," Zeffirelli revisited the concept that had formed the basis of the Italian production almost twenty years earlier. The action took place entirely in a sort of television studio that included the whole house, with the audience blending onstage with the characters of the play.
With the aid of a skillful translation by playwrigh Martin Sherman, that provided also the new English title, stripped the text of its dated heaviness and emphasized its more ironic and paradoxical aspects, Zeffirelli created a dazzling and surprising production, greeted with warm and unchallenged success.
