Zeffirelli’s passion for the performing arts was strongly opposed by his father. As a result, he primarily pursued work as a radio actor — an almost clandestine activity that allowed him to continue his university studies. His first leading role was as Boka, the leader of the gang of boys, in the radio adaptation of one of the most popular youth novels of that time.
